Let's talk about quail eggs
Eggs. A food item I have always enjoyed eating and always probably will. Recently my hubby and I got to try something a bit different from our usual free-range, brown chicken eggs: quail eggs! These teeny-tiny little bundles full of flavour and protein are really quite delicious. Boil them for a mere 4 minutes to get perfectly hard-boiled eggs, peel them up and dip them in a little salt...Yum! The taste of a quail's egg is really very similar to that of a chickens'. The yolk is a bit richer in flavour, yet the texture of the egg is very much like that of a chicken.
These tiny bundles are a delicacy the world round, especially in Japan where they are often an accompaniment to Bento Boxes and sushi. But also across Europe, Africa and North America as well! Quail are tiny birds that can be found in North Africa, Europe, parts of Asia and North America. Due to the yolk having a richer flavour than a chicken egg, they are often used in cooking. The eggs also have a higher yolk to white ratio than the chicken or duck egg.
Quail eggs contain a high amount of vitamin A, protein, potassium, and vitamin B! There are various theories that these eggs can help boost your metabolism, cleanse toxins from your body, help with allergies, and even help balance your good and bad cholesterol! I do not claim to know if any of these purported effects are true, yet I can attest to their delicious flavour and that the addition of these to your diet will certainly not be a bad thing! So go ahead, give 'em a try! I bet you won't be disappointed!
